Rod will always rock.....Stevie is another story
This was a great night out overall, a chance to see two icons before we all head off to that rock concert in the sky. Stevie, thank you for those summers of "summer love" and parties, you will always have a place in my memory book of life. As much as I hoped it wasn't true, we've all aged and sadly, Stevie's voice and stage presence is but a shell of its original. I wanted to walk into this show and be transported back to my college days, those days of sitting for hours on the sidewalk in front of the local Tower Records store to be the first to buy a copy of the album (yes, I said ALBUM) that people whispered was titled "Rumours." Despite the fact that you spent most of the show carrying around a small towel that you kept wiping your face with, you put on a show, you entertained, you gave us what we wanted, and you "still got it, dude!" I knew the words, but could barely hear them over the muffled background voices that were clearly there to help her over the tough parts. Santa's Circus, you were hard to watch trying to rekindle those memories as a 50+ dude. Now, if you expect to be 100% transported back to a "place from the past," you will only get halfway there. This is kinda a "did it once" thing, glad we did, but probably wouldn't do it again. And of sitting spellbound as I watched Stevie swaying on the stage, her voice filling the entire arena.
